Hospital Leadership Also Announces Top Rural Hospital Award from the Leapfrog Group

Cushing, Oklahoma (Jan. 19, 2024) – Hillcrest Hospital Cushing today unveiled a new intensive care unit (ICU), designed to provide around the clock care to the region’s most critically ill patients. Opened on Dec. 18, 2023, the four-room unit has served 11 patients to date.

Prior to opening, the ICU was remodeled to include breakaway doors for easy access to patients and four points of constant monitoring. The unit is also staffed to ensure a lower patient-to-nurse ratio.

The City of Cushing and Hillcrest HealthCare System have executed an extension of the current lease at Hillcrest Hospital Cushing until Jan. 31, 2030. This agreement will keep Hillcrest Cushing as one of the major health care providers in the area.

When King Morris, M.D., completed his residency in 1996, his intention was to return to his home state of California and begin practicing urology.
